Based out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, singer-songwriter Joel Plaskett is preparing a new album for early 2007 with his band The Emergency.

During a brief tour stop in Toronto as part of the CBC Radio 3 concert See Vous Play (which also featured Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton, Les Trois Accords and Les Breastfeeders), Plaskett talked to Popjournalism about how the new album's shaping up.

"It's going to be a fun record," he says. "It's shaping up to be a bit of a rock opera concept record."

Pre-production began in September and songs are still being written for the release, Plaskett says.

The album will be produced by Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar, GRADY).
