The successful compilation returns with its sixth instalment of
dance and ambient mixes, and rockin’ pop beats. But unlike
volume five, which boasted hits from The Flaming Lips, Radiohead,
Starsailor and Norah Jones, Chillout 06 depends mainly
on unknowns like Ivy ("Nothing But The Sky"), The Perishers
("Weekends"), and The Postal Service ("Against
All Odds"). Despite lacking in star power, it still has some
pretty cool tracks — Ulrich Schnauss's "On My Own"
has an infectious dance beat, The Real Tuesday Weld's "The
Ugly And The Beautiful" is a late night country stroll set
to keyboards, and Sarah McLachlan's "World on Fire"
is an organic remix that brings out her stunning vocals. Chillout
06 is perfect music for the drive home after work, or just
for lounging, but it would have been nice to have some more known
"hits" remixed. (Nettwerk)
