I live in an apartment, but I live on the top floor.
I'm sure a lot floats through the walls, but being on the top floor means that more floats out than floats in. Or so I assume. I've yet to – knock on wood (or in my case, concrete) – get any feedback on what music I subject my fellow residents to.
Especially when, one lazy Saturday afternoon I threw in this eclectic compilation, 20 Ways to Float Through Walls. It is undeniably a world music CD, as its 20 tracks are by artists from 15 different countries singing in 10 different languages (no, I cannot distinguish the 10 languages, but I've chosen to trust the liner notes).
What I noticed most while 20 Ways spun in the background was how little I noticed it and, conversely, how often I found myself drumming along to it. Once in a while, something would come on that would upset my admitted Eurocentric musical preferences, but overall, the compilation made for fine background to a Saturday; I just don't see this making its way into my regular rotation.
